Cookie Policy

1        Usage of Cookies in the Group Retail Portal (GRP)

On the GRP website, Volkswagen AG, as the technical operator, uses cookies. A cookie is a small file with configuration information that is stored on your end device and contains data such as personal page settings and login information. This data record is generated and sent to you by the web server with which you have connected via your web browser.

Most browsers are set by default to accept all cookies. However, you have the option of setting your browser in such a manner that cookies are displayed before they are stored, only certain cookies are accepted or rejected, or cookies are generally rejected. We would like to point out that setting changes only affect the respective browser. If you use different browsers or change the end device, the settings have to be changed again. In addition, you can delete cookies from your storage medium at any time. For information on cookie settings, changing them and deleting cookies, please refer to the help function of your web browser.

In general, we use cookies to ensure the functionality of the GRP website and its availability. You can see the purposes of the cookies we use in the overview below. Cookies can generally be divided into three different categories with different types. The categories of cookies include Functional Cookies, Comfort Cookies and Tracking Cookies.

The GRP only uses so-called Functional Cookies, which are essential for the functionality of the website. The processing of the Functional Cookies is necessary to enable your visit to the website (cf. Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b DSGVO).

The functional cookies used in the GRP are divided into two types: Session Cookie and Permanent Cookie. The two types of cookies differ in the duration for which the cookie data is stored:

While you are using a website, a Session Cookie containing a session identifier is temporarily stored in your computer's memory, e.g. so that you do not need to log on again every time you change webpages. Session cookies are deleted when you log off or cease to be valid as soon as your session automatically expires.

A Permanent Cookie stores a file on your computer for the duration defined by the file's expiration date. These cookies enable websites to remember your information and settings the next time you visit them. This speeds up your access and makes it more convenient, for instance because you do not need to adjust your language setting for our portal every time. The cookie is automatically deleted once its expiration date is reached when you visit the website that generated the cookie.
